Abstracts

Transform Your Business with VMware Cloud on AWS
With VMware Cloud on AWS, not only can you consume VMware VMs and management tools on AWS, but you can also leverage AWS native services from virtual machines running within VMware Cloud on AWS. In this session, you will learn about the SDDC integration in AWS and how you can leverage the best of both VMware and AWS for your environment.

Trend Micro: Security 101 – Digital extortion in 2018
Digital extortion is one of the most lucrative ways cybercriminals can profit in today’s threat landscape. Many have fallen victim to this particular scheme and been bilked of their money — from ordinary users to big enterprises.
During this session you will learn:
– what digital extortion is
– how you can protect against some of the extortion techniques.
ITQ : Designing for scalability and user experience: Horizon on Cloud Foundation
When deploying VMware Horizon Enterprise on VMware Cloud Foundation, your design choices are limited because it uses a standard design template. The standard design template may not cover all topics that are essential to your successful VDI project. What are these key differences and how should you approach them? In this session, I will dive into the focus areas of a VDI workload domain deployment such as: sizing of the hosts, suitable use cases, GPU’s and User Experience. I will also explain how operational and maintenance tasks will be performed using VMware Cloud Foundation. As an added extra, I will share some of best practices gathered from real-life VCF deployments.

VMUG.BE Workshop: Network automation with vRA and NSX

Join Ronald de Jong and Viktor van den Berg on an interactive workshop on vRealize Automation (vRA) and NSX. vRA is VMware’s automation & orchestration solution and allows you to publish IT services in a self-service portal. An IT service, for example one or more VMs or an application, can be deployed automatically after a user requests the service in the vRA portal. Connecting NSX to vRA allows users to deploy a network topology that is part of an IT service. In this way you can automatically deploy a multi-tier application, including multiple network tiers.

In this workshop you will learn about the configuration steps to connect NSX to vRA, learn how to deploy on-demand networks as part of a vRA blueprint and see how you can add NSX security constructs to a vRA blueprint. The workshop includes some interactive labs, so be ready to get some hands-on experience!

Note: Some experience with vRA and/or NSX will help you to succesfully complete the workshop

How virtualisation increases you overall security posture.
“Don’t think on how to secure your virtualisation infrastructure. Instead think of how virtualisation can help you increase your overall security posture. During this session we’ll go over the pitfalls of modern security infrastructure implementations and how virtualisation can drastically change an organisations entire security DNA.”
